Anzac Day 2023
Today, April 25th 2023, marks the 108th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings of Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.
It is a day of reflection, commemoration, and remembrance.
The landings in the Gallipoli region of Türkiye signified the first military involvement of the Anzacs in the First World War, and ever since, the 25th April has been enshrined as a day to commemorate those who fought. Although historically a day to remember the contributions and sacrifices of those involved in 1915, Anzac Day has evolved over the decades to become a national day of reflection on all conflicts and peacekeeping efforts that Australia, New Zealand, and their Pacific allies have participated in. It is a day to pay tribute to the victims of war, honour those who have fallen, and above all: remember them always.
