About Course

Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior managers who apply a wide range of advanced hospitality and leadership skills, supported by comprehensive industry knowledge, to oversee and direct hospitality operations. These individuals operate with a high level of autonomy, lead teams, and make strategic business decisions to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management provides a pathway to senior management positions across all sectors of the hospitality industry. Graduates may work as operations managers, area managers, department heads, or small business owners in settings such as hotels, resorts, restaurants, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and catering or event organisations. This qualification also supports multiskilling and offers opportunities to broaden or specialise in areas such as accommodation services, food and beverage management, commercial cookery, and gaming.

All skills and knowledge in this qualification are applied in line with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice.

Our Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management is a nationally recognised VET qualification.

Course Duration

This course consists of 33 units of competency (14 core and 19 elective) delivered across a period of 104 weeks (including 15 weeks of term breaks).

Entry Requirements

  1. English Proficiency Requirements:
    • Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following:
      • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a minimum overall band score of 5.5, with no individual band score below 5.0.
      • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum overall score of 39, and minimum scores in each skill as follows: Listening: 33, Reading: 36, Writing: 29, Speaking: 24)
      • Any other English proficiency test deemed equivalent by Opulence College.
  2. Age Requirements:
    • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of enrolment.
  3. Academic Requirements:
    • Applicants must have successfully completed Australian Year 12 or an equivalent.

Note: Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission, as additional factors may be considered during the selection process.

Assessments

This course will be delivered and assessed through classes, tutorials, workshop experience and activities, and prescribed readings.

Course Outcomes

Students will obtain the Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management once all units have been completed at a competent level.

Our graduates can pursue roles such as Restaurant Manager, Hotel Manager, Café/Bar Manager, Front Office Manager, or Hospitality Operations Supervisor.
