Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who provide leadership and support strategic direction in the civil construction design activities of an organization. Their knowledge base may be highly specialized or broad within the civil construction field. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include Civil Engineering Draftsperson, Civil Construction Designer, Project Manager, and Senior Design Consultant.

Responsibilities are likely to be determined at a workplace level. Some smaller organizations may require employees to work across all aspects of civil construction design. In larger organizations, individuals may manage a single construction design function.

Our Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design is a nationally recognized VET qualification.

Course Duration

  • 104 weeks (including term breaks)
  • 8 terms

This course consists of 12 units of competency (5 core and 7 electives) delivered across a period of 104 weeks (including 24 weeks of term breaks). Students will complete up to 2,400 hours of structured learning (20 hours per week). The 80 weeks of learning are split into 8 terms, with each term covering 1-2 units of competency.

Course Entry Requirements

  1. English Proficiency Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following tests:
    • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Minimum overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band score below 5.5.
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Minimum overall score of 50, with at least 42 in each of the four skills.
    • Any other English proficiency test deemed equivalent by Opulence College.
  2. Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.
  3. Academic Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed Australian Year 12 or its equivalent.

Note: Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission, as additional factors may be considered during the selection process.

Assessments

This course will be delivered and assessed through verbal assessment, group discussion, consultation, prescribed textbook reading and online written assessment activities.

Course Outcomes

Students will attain the Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design once all units have been completed at a competent level.

Graduates of our Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction Design course will gain critical skills and knowledge to provide leadership and support the strategic direction in the civil construction design activities of an organization. These could include:
