Course Description

The CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) at Opulence College provides a qualification for building and construction work, with a focus on residential and commercial construction projects.

Graduates may work in roles such as Builders, Construction Supervisors, Site Managers and Site Supervisors, undertaking tasks such as interpreting plans and specifications, applying building codes and standards, supervising construction activities, managing site administration, applying structural principles, and supporting the safe and compliant delivery of building projects.

The qualification is classified at AQF Level 4. Licensing and regulatory requirements for building and construction work may vary between Australian states and territories, and completion of the qualification does not itself guarantee a licence.

Course Duration

32 weeks, including:

• • 28 weeks of study
  • 4 weeks of holiday breaks

This course consists of 19 units of competency (with 11 core units and 8 elective units).

Course Entry Requirements

All international students are required to complete a Pre-Training Review and LLND assessment to identify their individual training and support needs.

1. English Proficiency Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following tests:
   • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Minimum overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band score below 6.0.
   • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Minimum overall score of 47 (with 47 for listening / 48 for reading / 51 for writing / 54 for speaking).
   • Any other English proficiency test deemed equivalent by Opulence College.
   • Alternative evidence of English proficiency may also be accepted (please contact our Admission team for more details)
2. Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.
3. Academic Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed Australian Year 11 or its equivalent.
