Course Description

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who provide leadership and support strategic direction in the telecommunications network engineering activities of an organization. Their knowledge base may be highly specialized or broad within the telecommunications field. The job roles that relate to this qualification may include Telecommunications Technical Officer, Network Designer, Project Manager, and Senior Telecommunications Consultant.

Our Advanced Diploma of IT (Telecommunications Network Engineering) is a nationally recognized VET qualification.

Course Duration

This course consists of 16 units of competency (6 core and 10 electives) delivered across a period of 104 weeks (including 24 weeks of term breaks). Students will complete up to 2,400 hours of structured learning (20 hours per week). The 80 weeks of learning are split into 8 terms, with each term covering 1-2 units of competency.

Course Entry Requirements

  1. English Proficiency Requirements: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English through one of the following tests:
    • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Minimum overall band score of 6.0, with no individual band score below 5.5.
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic): Minimum overall score of 50, with at least 42 in each of the four skills.
    • Any other English proficiency test deemed equivalent by Opulence College.
  2. Age Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrolment.
  3. Academic Requirements: Applicants must have successfully completed Australian Year 12 or its equivalent.

Note: Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission, as additional factors may be considered during the selection process.

Assessments

This course will be delivered and assessed through verbal assessment, group discussion, consultation, prescribed textbook reading and online written assessment activities.

Course Outcomes

Students will attain the Advanced Diploma of IT (Telecommunications Network Engineering) once all units have been completed at a competent level.
